Spiders are scary enough when they’re barley larger than your palm, but gaming has given us some of the world’s scariest arachnids. They are massive, contorted figures that won’t stop until the player is dead, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Limbo – Shadow Spider

The world of Limbo is eternally cast in shadow. This makes the games rotund spider much more mysterious. It silently creeps out of the shadows, slowly stalking the young boy. All we can see is a black silhouette, so the arachnid’s true nature is thankfully hidden from view. This doesn’t make it any less hard to endure for arachnophobes.
