THE LAST OF US PART 2
Naughty Dog continued to toy with wide-linear exploration in The Last of Us Part 2. Just like the Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy, The Last of Us Part 2 makes exploration completely diegetic. The one mini-open world section in Seattle is a blast to explore, and constantly rewards you for your curiosity with bits and pieces of story, excellent character interactions, or crucial upgrades. Meanwhile, even outside of that open world area, there are quite a few large areas in the game that let you explore to your heart’s content, and even allow you to pit human enemies against swarms of the Infected. More than anything else, The Last of Us Part 2 makes us wonder about what Naughty Dog could do with a fully open world game.
