15 Horrifying Moments In Non-Horror Games

Some seemingly happy games actually have some of the scariest moments in gaming.

Not all games are scary. That’s a good thing, but sometimes non-scary games will slip in a horrifying moment or two. These moments are so effective because they are contrasted against bright, fluffy or heroic tales. They might not take place in horror games, but they still made our skin crawl.

The Morgue – Batman Arkham Asylum

The morgue is the place Batman’s dives into his deepest and darkest nightmares. After walking into the room the player is jettisoned into a world controlled by the Scarecrow. He towers in the center among broken buildings, tortured souls and lots of fire. The entire time players are trying to figure out if this sequence is real or not, or if Batman has actually met a grim fate.
