RISK OF RAIN 2
Hopoo Games took quite a risk when they decided that the sequel to their beloved sidescrolling roguelike Risk of Rain would be a 3D roguelike third person shooter, but it was a risk that paid off. Risk of Rain 2 is an absolutely bonkers game, and I don’t use that word lightly. Thanks to intense, fast-paced combat and excellent enemy design, things can and do escalate in Risk of Rain 2 very quickly, and the way the game keeps ramping the intensity up throughout the course of your run without ever feeling too overwhelming is nothing short of excellent. Risk of Rain 2 has certainly enjoyed a great deal of critical and commercial success, so it’s by no means doing poorly- but even so, a game this good deserves a way bigger audience.
