Death’s Gambit is a product of the flurry of indie metroidvanias we’ve seen in recent months of years, and while there’s an argument to be made that it doesn’t match up to the best of the best in recent memory, for those who’re looking for a solid Soulslike experience, it’s still a pretty good deal. There are some weird difficulty spikes here and there, while it’s also true that simply grinding can often help you get past some of the most challenging bosses and encounters, but on the whole, it’s still a game that fans of the genre will probably enjoy.
