The popularity of open world games is at an all-time high, and as developers look to leverage more powerful console hardware to craft even larger and more immersive game worlds, that popularity is going to keep going even higher. In 2021, for instance, there’s no shortage of major, exciting looking open world games coming out, and here, that’s exactly what we’re going to talk about, as we take a look at a few of the most interesting open world titles due out in 2021.

HORIZON FORBIDDEN WEST

Guerrilla Games’ first crack at open world game design was much better than it had any right to be, so it’s no surprise that people are more than a little excited about the upcoming Horizon Forbidden West. The allure of going back into the beautifully desolate post-apocalyptic setting of Horizon would have been enough in and of itself to warrant that excitement, but the hope is that with more engaging exploration, a larger world, and improved mechanics, Forbidden West will be a significant step up over our predecessor.
