PAC-MAN
Once again, just like with Kirby, we’re not actually going to talk about the backstory of Pac-Man- what would even be the point? No, we’re taking a look at how this gaming icon was developed. The concept of the arcade game Pac-Man was built around eating, and as such, the game’s creator Taru Iwatani named the blob Pakkuman, “paku-paku” being the Japanese slang used to describe the sound one makes while chewing. When the game was brought over to the west, it was originally supposed to be translated to Puck Man. However, for fear that vandals might alter the name on the arcade machines to turn it into unfortunate f-bombs, the game was renamed Pac-Man.
