CONTROLLER
The PlayStation face buttons – square, triangle, O, and X – have become iconic over the years, and there were very specific meanings behind each button. As per Teiyu Goto, designer of the original PlayStation controller, O and X meant “confirm” and “cancel” (which is why those inputs were presented that way in PS1 games), while the triangle represented a PoV in a game, and the square a sheet of paper to access game menus.
