10. Mountainous Setting
While it’s true that the horror games do not necessarily require a certain setting to be effective, some set ups prove to aid a game in its goals and ambitions. Until Dawn is set on a recluse mountain range with seemingly minimal population which seems to abhor any contact with the rest of the world.
Add some dark clouds, silent nights, creaky house floors, howling winds and tip tapping rain, and you have successfully made one of the best settings that a horror game ought to have. Which seems to be the case with Supermassive Games’ upcoming title.
