MIDDLE-EARTH: SHADOW OF WAR
Shadow of War’s inclusion of loot boxes was met with a lot of outrage- why does a fully priced single player game even need microtransactions? And while the defence that none of the microtransactions are ever really forced upon you is valid, the question is still very much pertinent. Shadow of War lets players use real world money to purchase all kinds of stuff, from XP boosts and better weapons, to better Orc captains and more followers for your army. Though the model isn’t as intrusive as some of the other stuff we’re mentioning in this feature, it’s very existence is still something that can be easily questioned.
