Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden
Don’t Nod’s spiritual successor to Vampyr reviewed reasonably well but sold poorly which is likely a symptom of its overshadowed launch. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden released in February, the same month as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Granblue Fantasy: Relink, and Helldivers 2, so it never stood a fighting chance of standing out, and if it passed you by its well worth checking out. For one, it’s addictive combat fuses traditional firepower with spirit abilities in a system not unlike Control, but moreover Banishers has a surprisingly tender narrative exploring the love and grief two soulmates share as they determinedly hunt for ghouls.
