CONSCRIPT

You’d think that a survival horror game that isn’t much of a scarefest might not be a great game, but Conscript is perhaps the exception to that rule. No, it’s not too frightening by any means, and chooses to replace actual scares with constant background tension. Where it really thrives, however, is its excellent World War 1 setting, its gorgeous pixel art, its incredible level design and how it constantly encourages exploration, and how well it captures the mechanical strengths of classic survival horror games of old.
