2010 was a great year for gaming and we already have our own people choice for the Game of the Year running, so make sure you check that out. There are hardly a few days remaining for 2010 and 2011 will be upon us in no time. I know it’s very early to predict what will be the Game of the Year for 2011, But here are eight very strong candidates that may be crowned Game of the Year in 2011.
Note: A probability meter is mentioned in the article for each game, which indicates the chances of the game winning. Also this list might not have mentioned your favorite game, but you can always list that in the comments below.

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception

Probability: 9/10

Uncharted 2 swept every major award back in 2009 and the third entry in the series is already looking very strong. This time supporting 3D, Naughty has a tough task of bettering what they did with Among Thieves. But judging by the initial screens, Uncharted 3 is already looking as good as or even better than Uncharted 2. We hope to see more of the game in 2011 and undoubtedly this is a huge contender for the Game of the Year 2011.

Gears of War 3

Probability: 9/10

Right up there with Uncharted 3 is Epic’s and Microsoft’s biggest franchise this generation. The third iteration in the hugely popular Gears of War franchise will hit on Xbox 360 next fall. Featuring four player co-op and a mind boggling single player campaign, Gears of War 3 will look to stun crowds in 2011. Gears of War 2 was a stunning achievement and just like Naughty Dog, Epic Games too have a daunting task of bettering the previous installment.

Crysis 2

Probability: 8/10

Selecting Crysis 2 was a pretty tough choice for me since there are tons of shooters coming around next year. I think Crysis 2 could eventually do better than any other shooter on the market and this means a lot since the competition is in the form of cracking games like Killzone 3, Bulletstorm, Bioshock Infinit and may be Halo 4 and a new Call of Duty Game. The recent screens suggest that this is going to be a visually stunning game and I really hope it will deliver the game play to match it.

Mass Effect 3

Probability: 8/10

Mass Effect 2 is a prime example on how a role playing game. In fact I would go ahead and say that Mass Effect 2 is the pinnacle of video gaming in 2010. Officially announced recently at the Video Game Awards 2010, Mass Effect 3 is scheduled to hit the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC Fall 2011. You character will get affected on what decisions you took in Mass Effect 2 as well as the original Mass Effect. It will be very interesting to see how that pans out.
