The Evil Within 2 is the ideal sequel in every way- it knows exactly what to retain from its predecessor, exactly what to add, and exactly what to improve. Its story is more focused, its characterization more human and believable. It somehow manages to do the impossible and strike the perfect balance between a focus on desperate survival and offering players a fairly large semi-open world environment to explore. It has incredible boss fights and memorable set-piece moments. The collective result of all that is one of the best survival horror games in recent memory that frankly deserved far more love and attention than it got at launch.
