48-hour job swap event for devs and journalists

Posted By | On 10th, Jul. 2012

Starting at 5pm on Friday 5th October, five journalists will be switching roles with five developers to create a game in just 48 hours.

As part of the London Games Festival, hosted by UKIE with Mobile Pie, Develop and MCV, this intriguing experiment will see developers and journalists swap roles.

The journalists will be assisted by student developers, whilst the developers are tasked with conducting interviews, reporting on the event itself and everything in between.

The event is tha brainchild of Will Luton, a Develop columnist and developer for Mobile Pie:

“The idea came to me when I was writing a blog to deadline for Develop at this year’s GDC.

“I thought ‘we always bitch on journalists but these guys have a tough job’.

“It was a small leap to swap the roles in a hack, I put it to Twitter, the response was insane, and UKIE and Develop pitched in to make it happen.”

After the event, the games will also be publicly available for all to play.

This year’s London Games Festival runs from 27th September to 8th October.
