ROLE PLAYING GAME- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Dragonborn!

No other RPG releasing this year had the same level of anticipation and excitement around it that Elder Scrolls V had. We recently posted an article about ten things- ten awesome things– that TESV will be featuring. But no matter how much we talk about it, it just doesn’t seem enough. For the game looks more awesome than imaginable. It’s got everything from beautiful environments and awesome NPCs to thousands of dragons to slay and/or befriend and over 300 hours of gameplay. And if Bethesda does manage to make the game glitch-free- something they have failed to do with Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion- it’s hard to imagine just how good this game will truly be then. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed and hope this really is what it looks like- the best RPG in ages.

SPORTS- FIFA 12

The changes may not seem like much to a normal bystander, but to football fans, they're really gamechangers.

The FIFA series has been at its best these last three years- FIFA 09, FIFA 10 and FIFA 11 were all brilliant games, and at the time of their release, each of them was proclaimed to be the best football- the best sports game ever created. But it looks like it’ll take much more than that to sate EA Sports. FIFA 12 looks much better than any FIFA game ever. If you thought FIFA 11 was realistic, beautiful and just plain fun, you’ll surely be in for a treat with FIFA 12. While the three new big changes to the formula- the Impact Engine, Precision Dribbling and Tactical Defending- may not seem like much to a person who doesn’t regularly play the FIFA games or isn’t a huge football fans, but to those who are fans of the sport and the yearly game series, the changes will bring huge alterations to the gameplay, making it much more tactical, realistic, and again, fun. Other than that, the game’s also got improved presentation, improved visuals, match build ups, and a ton of other new things- it looks like EA Sports is fast moving towards their goal of making the perfect football game.

RACER- Forza Motorsport 4

And we thought Forza 3 would forever be the best racing sim ever.

Forza Motorsport 2 was awesome. Forza 3 was even more awesome. It had a ton of cars, great tracks, some features that now seem like what any standard racing sim should have but weren’t there before Forza 3, and an overall extremely addictive and polished experience. With Forza 4, Turn 10 looks to improve upon Forza, if that is even possible. Kinect support, for even, is actually meaningful this time around. You can explore the cars inside out like you would in the real world in the game, and with Kinect, this feature seems to add a great deal to the realistic racing experience. The gameplay looks more polished and addictive than ever before (from what we’ve seen of it so far). All in all, it looks like Forza 4 might just do the impossible- it might overtake Forza 3 and possibly the best racing sim ever.
