Use of Vehicles

Black Ops certainly sowed the seeds of adding in cool vehicular sections, with helicopter sections breaking up the pace of the usual on-foot action successfully, but Black Ops 2 will hopefully take things even further in this area. After all, why include giant battle mechs if we won’t get a chance to pilot them at some point?

New Weapons

Vehicles are a nice treat here and there, but it’s the weapons that will be our bread and butter in Black Ops 2, and the new future setting will hopefully offers us plenty of new toys to play with. Let’s be totally honest and just finally admit that using the M4 is getting really stale. Some new attachments would be welcome as well as, though Black Ops and MW3 gave us some new gadgets on the ends of our weapons, the future setting of Black Ops 2 could offer us so much more.

Non-Linear Narratives

Okay, maybe not that non-linear

Now here’s an interesting one. Linearity of narrative is usually synonymous with the FPS genre, but Black Ops 2 will bring in strikeforce missions which, based on your choice of missions and success within them, can completely alter the outcome of the game’s story. Such hands on narrative control is seldom offered within the shooter genre, and it’s certainly set to be a refreshing first for the Call of Duty series.

Zombies 2.0

The zombies mode has been one of the biggest pulls to Treyarch’s entries into the Call of Duty series since its inception in World at War. Its simple and satisfying evolution of the Horde mode looks set to improve even more in Black Ops 2, with eight player support, a complete campaign framing the action and promises that the social and community elements of normal PvP multiplayer will also completely integrate zombies. Get the shotguns ready team.
