FINAL FANTASY 15
Releasing after an infamously long, tortured, and broken development cycle, and still having to live up to the level of expectation that comes with every new mainline Final Fantasy release, Final Fantasy 15 was fighting an uphill battle right out the gate, and honestly, it wasn’t surprising that it fumbled in all the ways it did. The infamous Chapter 13 was emblematic of all of those issues- what had started out as a massive open world experience devolved in baffling fashion into becoming a hyper linear experience with awfully boring level design, while players were stuck alone in a party of one, which means the interactions between the four main characters (which was one of the game’s biggest strengths) were lost too. It was dull, repetitive, poorly designed, and went on far too long.
