8 Ways Sony Can Make Sure That The PSP2/NGP Is The Best Handheld Ever

Avoid multiple SKU’s

It’s no secret that Sony launched a plethora of models for the PlayStation Portable not to mention the PSP Go! Now this can be a good idea since it gives the end user more options but sometimes it can get confusing. I do not mean that Sony should not do multiple SKU’s with the NGP, but not to the point where a gamer gets confused and in the end he picks up the 3DS.

Battery Life

When the PSP was launched its battery life was pathetic and Sony rectified it to an extent by releasing new models. Now this is my concern with the NGP as well. I think Sony should get it right the first day itself instead of releasing newer models/sku’s which will be much appreciated by gamers and will also help Sony’s cause financially.

Make the hardware less fragile

I am pretty sure that most of our readers may not agree with this point. I think the PSP was too delicate and fragile, especially for a handheld device. I bought my PSP a couple of years ago and much to my bad luck, the screen had scratches all over it in a few weeks. Trust me it makes me go nuts seeing scratches on my gaming handhelds. NGP seems to be going the same way of being delicate but I think a resistant screen should do the trick.

Don’t make the starting price sky high

The PSP2/NGP renders close to PlayStation 3 like visuals, does Uncharted and has an awesome OS in Android. But hold on a second! How much will this thing cost us? $400?! Sorry I am opting out. I think one of the reasons why the PS3 was criticized when it launched was it sky high price tag of $599/$499. I seriously hope that the NGP is priced around the same mark as that of 3DS that is $249.99. I mean anything more than that then I am pretty sure it will be DS versus PSP war again with the former leading from the front.

Your Feedback

So what do you think Sony should do so that the NGP becomes the flag ship console for them and stays in the competition with the 3DS? Let us know in the comments below.
