9 Games that need to be remade for the PlayStation 3

Posted By | On 25th, Oct. 2009

Folks we are in the seventh generation of gaming and are being amazed by the raw power of the Playstation 3. There have been many people (including us) who are amazed at the technology behind the Cell processor and the massive storage space of the blu ray disc. All of us who have bought the Playstation 3 must have bought many blockbuster games along with it. Games like Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and the more recent Heavy Rain. But there are some games which we have played in the last generation ( and the previous ones too) and we are forced to wonder if we will ever get them to play with next generation graphics and gameplay. We decide to list those games which should be remade on the PlayStation 3.

Note: This is the best list we came up with. There are so many games out there and if your favorite games were not mentioned here you can always point them out in the comment section.

Shadow of the Colossus

Platform: Playstation 2
Year of Release: 2005

shadowofthecolossus

Shadow of the Colossus was perhaps one of the best games of 2005 and arguably the best ever on the Playstation 2. You will be going against a number of colossi in the game and the real catch of this game was the way you will bring them down. Now imagine this game redeveloped again for the Playstation 3 using the raw power of the cell processor; all those colossi would look like amazing on your HDTV. With you riding the horse and the scale distance increased due to the power of the Playstation 3, this game will be stunning right from the word go. However we know Team ICO are hard at work on The Last Guardian, so there is slim chance of this happening.

Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2

Platform: MSX2
Year of Release: 1987

mgs4

Often referred to as the classics in the Metal Gear Solid franchise and the only two games in the series that don’t have the word “Solid” in the name due to the fact that there was no 3D gaming during the 1980’s. Hideo Kojima has confirmed again and again that Solid Snake’s story has ended and to be honest this time he is right. Rising which is due out soon, will be a game which will probably focus more on Raiden. So what about the fans of Solid Snake (like me)? I believe this is something we can sense that is going to happen. But we aren’t sure when.

Okami

Platform: Playstation 2
Year of Release: 2006

okami

A 2006 release game and one of the very best, right along with Shadow of the Colossus, Okami was a very original game. Features like the ability to paint your own world, slash your enemies with a paintbrush and draw bombs to blast your foes was an innovative move by the now dissolved Clover studios. Amaterasu itself was beautifully designed with its tail flurrying away and the animations were very fluid. A Wii version was released later, but come on guys- don’t you like the fact that Amaterasu will look even more amazing if Okami is to be redeveloped for the PS3?

Half-Life

Platform: PC, Playstation 2, Dreamcast
Year of Release: 1998

Its been a decade since it was released on the PC and this game still stands out as the pioneer of modern first person shooter games, featuring puzzle and combat related gameplay elements and the first game to have seamless integration between levels. Taking on a helicopter and using your HEV suit to jump across long distances with a weighty feel ( Killzone 2 anyone?) would be a lot of fun. Just imagine this game using 100% cell processor power…I say bring it on!

Final Fantasy VII

Platform: PC, Playstation
Year of Release: 1997

ff7

Still rumored and still wanted by many, Final Fantasy VII on the Playstation 3 is a dream even after the infamous trailer at E3 2005. Questions still arise on why they had the tech demo for the game? But its been five years and we know nothing about a PS3 version. The original was released on the PSN, but come on Square Enix, we need this game remastered for the Playstation 3.

Clock Tower 3

Platform: Playstation 2
Year of Release: 2003

clokctower3

Clock Tower 3 tells you the story of Alyssa Hamilton who has to solve the mysteries of the people who were murdered by various fanatics in the game. The game has a very unique setting where the player is able to travel across different time lines and get clues about the mysterious killings. Imagine this remade for the PlayStation 3 and the sledgehammer guy going after you and the is player just running around to save his/her life or locks himself up in a cupboard or hides under a bed…Sounds scary, right?

Syphon Filter

Platform: Playstation One
Year of Release: 1999

syphonfilter

As one of the games considered to be one of the top Playstation One games alongside the likes of Metal Gear Solid, this game had to make the list. There have been tons of rumors about a PS3 version in production and just like FF7 we have been hearing about this for half a decade. Imagine a Syphon Filter game remade in MGS4 graphics and sounds- amazing right!

Twisted Metal: Black

Platform: Playstation 2
Year of Release: 2001

twistedmetal

Another game rumored to be in development, but the facts remains the same. So if the developers are out of ideas for a next gen Twisted Metal game, I don’t see anything wrong with remaking a tried and tested title. Just imagine all the destruction and the projectile of the missiles in a really open world game. The variations could be crazy, given the freedom the PS3 allows.

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis

Platforms: PlayStation, PC, Dreamcast, GameCube
Year of Release: 1999

residentevil3

One of the most terrifying games that I have ever played, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis was an outright stunning game. Racoon City infected with Zombies and the Nemesis firing missiles at you and screaming “STARS!!!”, sounds like an amazing prospect. With Resident Evil 6 not in the works for Capcom right now, a remake of Nemesis is welcomed.
