Guillermo del Toro game cancelled by THQ

Posted By | On 06th, Aug. 2012

In what looks to spell more bad news for THQ after a rough few months and looming financial uncertainty, the Guillermo del Toro directed survival game Insane has been cancelled.

Originally announced during Spike Video Game Awards back in 2010, Insane was set to be the first in a trilogy, coming out in 2013. IP rights have been returned to del Toro and it’s unknown exactly how far into development Volition were up until this point.

THQ have also abandoned mobile and casual ambitions for the time being, Jason Rubin, THQ’s President stated, “By canceling these explorations outside of our core business, we feel we can improve focus on our core game portfolio, which remains unchanged.”

Let’s hope Insane gets picked up by someone else as a horror game directed by a bonafide horror director. Please.
