PS4, Xbox 720, WiiU and Next Gen PC gaming round up for week ending Sept. 23

This week's next-gen news and rumour round-up.

Welcome back to this week’s news and rumour round-up for the next-gen consoles, and we have some interesting news for you.

There’s not much about the PS4, but one thing is for certain, we will know more about both Sony and Microsoft’s consoles next year. But this year is all about the Wii U, and considering reports that they have been sold out online, this is an interesting period indeed.

Eastern Morning Herald reports that the PS4 could be released late 2014.

“The PS3, on the other hand, was released in November, 2006. Doing the math, that could mean Sony will be using an eight-year product life cycle and releasing the PS4 in the fall of 2014. That’s more than two years from now, and an awful long time to wait for a new product. However, historically speaking, this wouldn’t be surprising if it happens.”

Wii U: ‘CPU less powerful than PS3/360′, says Tecmo

“One of the weaknesses of the Wii U compared to PS3 and Xbox 360 is the CPU power is a little bit less. So for games in the Warriors series, including Dynasty Warriors and Warriors Orochi, when you have a lot of enemies coming at you at once, the performance tends to be affected because of the CPU. Dealing with that is a challenge,” Tecmo’s Akihiro Suzuki said.

CNBC reports that the Wii U is selling out.

“Online pre-orders from several major retailers are already sold out — but analysts caution this initial enthusiasm doesn’t necessarily mean the Wii U will be as big a cultural phenomenon as its predecessor.”

Xbox 720 to feature a wearable controller?

“Outlining how it will work, the patent details that the Electromyography (EMG) sensors on the device will allow a wired or wireless human-computer interface (HCl) ‘to interact with computing systems and attached devices via electrical signals, generated by specific movement of the user’s muscles,” Pluggedin reports.

Stay tuned for next week for more news and information.
