Third-party sales on Wii are “especially low,” says Iwata

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo boss, has admitted that third party sales on his home console, the Wii, are very low, and he will address to these problems very soon.

“It is true that the third party software sales ratio on Nintendo platforms are comparatively smaller in Japan,” Iwata said during a recent press conference. “Wii’s third party software ratio is especially low.

“We need to decrease the concern that only Nintendo software can sell well on Nintendo platforms and third party software cannot sell in the same volume,”

When asked if the same problem will continue on the 3DS, he said: “We will not make a trend similar to the one found for Wii in Japan now. We feel a need to have closer ties with our third party developers from the beginning.”

“Together with the third party software people, we aim to expand the sales of Nintendo 3DS, and we will never stop our efforts to expand the gaming population.”

He said the DS “the platform for which the largest amount of third-party software is selling.”

Till now, the 3DS seems to have a very strong third party support.

Let’s see how it rolls.
