Hotline Miami creator goes on Piratebay to provide customer support to people pirating the game

Incredible stuff.

Have you bought Hotline Miami yet? If not, you totally should, because the game is awesome. Not only is the game awesome but their creators are too, as one of them went on Piratebay to assist the people who are having problems with getting the game to work.

Normally you see some Indie developers go on such sites to tell people to buy the game if they like it, and hopefully melt the hearts of people pirating their games, but to actually provide complete customer support is unheard of.

Jonatan Soderstrom, one of the creators of Hotline Miami, wrote this in the Piratebay comments section: (Can’t link the site of course):

I’m Jonatan Soderstrom, me and my friend Dennis Wedin made this game. We’re working on an update that hopefully will take care of any/all bugs, and we’ll try to do some extra polish in the next few days. Would be great if you could update the torrent when the patch is out! It’d be great if people get to play it without any bugs popping up.

“Hope everyone will enjoy the game!”

He also gave a few tips for the error some people are encountering.

“For the “Error defining an external function.” problem, try restarting your system and play again, it can pop up when your computer has been running for a while. We’ll try to figure out if there’s more to it than that.”

He did feel bad, however, and tweeted that he didn’t want people to pirate his game.

“I don’t really want people to pirate Miami Hotline, but I understand if they do. I’ve been broke the last couple of months. It sucks. And I definitely want people to experience the game the way it’s meant to be experienced. No matter how they got a hold of it.”

*sniff* The game costs peanuts and yet people try to pirate. This is quite disappointing. Please buy the game people, it’s amazing.
