Top 5 Over hyped Games this generation

Posted By | On 20th, Sep. 2009

There have been a lot of great games released this generation. But there are a couple of games who got the unnecessary hype even though they were…well great games. GB lists out some of the games that were over hyped.

1. Halo 3:

Update: This video is no longer available.

Halo 3 was arguably one of the finest first person shooters of 2007. But in the same year we had Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare also released. Microsoft’s major exclusive was worth the wait, but i believed that the game was more of a recycled product of Halo 1 and Halo 2. Also the game did not seem to utilized the full power of the Xbox 360 as some of the animations fell bland. Having said that the game was very good in terms of gameplay, but it did not deserved the hype that it really got.

2.Resistance 2: Fall of Man

Ok, one of PS3’s premium shooters got lauded by critics and was said to be the next Halo Killer. Mind you the game had an epic sense of scale to it but some of the boss fights were pretty easy. I mean the fights had all the looks to be epic but they had no substance. Hyped as a Halo killer and the real next gen shooter, Resistance 2 fell short of my expectations.

3. Gears of War 2:

Update: This video is no longer available.

If you ever played Gears of War 1, than there was no need to play the second. Featuring the same hide and seek gunplay, same locusts, same team mates, this game felt like a add on rather than a full fledged game. The only thing good about this game was the the some what decent story line and of course the visuals.

4. Little Big Planet:

Update: This video is no longer available.

One of the most sweetest games released last year was also one of the most over hyped one. The game was great overall but the hype that was given to the game was truly undeserving. Agreed that little big planet was one of the most unique games released this generation, but it was also one of the most over hyped games in recent memory.

5. Super Smash Bros. Brawl

One of the most over hyped games this generation. Featuring a great cast of characters with awesome gameplay elements but with more of the same from the previous versions, Bawl got some really unnecessary hype from the media. In no way this means that the game was bad, it was a great game but it was overhyped.
