Nintendo Network accounts locked to specific console

Not cool, Nintendo.

What the hell, Nintendo? This is a primitive backward move, as locking Nintendo Network ids to one console will ensure that during a hardware failure like we reported last time, the user will lose his account. This shouldn’t happen as the PS3 and Xbox 360 both have the ability to allow you to use accounts on other consoles.

The PS3 has an activation system, for example, and the Xbox 360 just downloads the data and has three account limit for each system. You can delete a user and add a new one in his place as well.

It’s not clear why Nintendo designed the system this way, but this launch has been a messy one with people reporting a lot of problems. Even the PS3 and Xbox 360 didn’t have all these problems and the launch was basically decent, however, Nintendo has a lot of work ahead of it, especially when it comes to Nintendo Network.

They may face a backlash from consumers who don’t really appreciate their accounts being locked to a specific console.
