God of War: Ascension – Watch how the Megalops was created

Sony Santa Monica are wizards, and here in this developer diary you can see how they brought a giant cyclops – called megalops – to life, with some clever design. It was mentioned that they only had to design the upper part of the body and not the lower one, and it contains 11 million polygons.

The dev diary shows many people from the studio talking about a lot of things, and how they had to fit the megalops into a specific level which was then tweaked and made to look nice by some of their designers. That stage was the first one shown during the game’s multiplayer reveal and looks quite good.
