Blizzard “actively working on Blizzard All-Stars”

Blizzard announced its very own MOBA title, Blizzard All-Stars back in 2010 during BlizzCon, and since then, we’ve received very little info on the game. Blizzard, however, wants to assure you that it is still very much in development and that the developers are looking into several free-to-play models that could suit the game, including micro transactions and such.

We’re actively working on it,” StarCraft 2 production director Chris Sigaty told Eurogamer. “That I can confirm. A lot of the stuff that’s remaining right now that we need to focus on are the systems necessary to pull off a game with a different business model than StarCraft 2.”

“StarCraft 2 is a box,” he continued. “We intend to do something different with the business model in Blizzard All-Stars, something more closely resembling the other types of games in that genre, the MOBA-style games that are out there today, and being able to sell smaller amounts of things to players, the things they want.”

When asked about free-to-play systems involving microtransactions, Sigaty said that “those systems are what we’re working on right now”, but also said that “it’s still actively being worked on.”

“We’ll go into more details about that in the future but I suspect you will not have to have StarCraft 2 to play [Blizzard All-Stars],” Sigaty added. “We’re definitely emphasising it as its own product in the future.”

Blizzard All-Stars is another one of those much awaited games that’s been announced for some time now but hasn’t seen the news a lot other than that.

There’s not even a release window set yet, and with Blizzard actively working on other projects right now, we can safely assume that it might take a while for the much anticipated MOBA title to come out.

Stay tuned for more updates.
