This past weekend at comic con, a teaser trailer for Blizzard’s upcoming World of Warcraft film was previewed.
Indications from the trailer are that the film will be Live-Action/Animated, with real actors interacting with CGI environments and characters. The highlighted scene of the teaser depicted a human warrior drinking a potion and drawing his sword in anticipation of entering combat with a hammer-wielding Orc.
When pushed for details on the development of the project, a Blizzard representative said, “We are excited about the Warcraft movie, which begins production in 2014, and we look forward to sharing more in the future.”
The film is to be directed by Duncan Jones, who also directed the hit films Moon and Source Code. Reports are that Evil Dead’s Sam Raimi was onboard at one point, but left the project to pursue Oz: The Great and Powerful.
World of Warcraft is one of the biggest gaming franchises in history, with a combines nearly six million years logged amongst it’s players. Will they be able to tear themselves away from the Warcraft real long enough to catch this film in theaters? Only time will tell.
Stay tuned to GamingBolt for updates on the franchise film.
