The First Ad For Pokemon X and Y Goes Live in North America

Gotta catch 'em all... in 3D.

With the release of the upcoming Pokemon X and Pokemon Y less than a month away, Nintendo is now ramping up its marketing for the game. After the viral ‘Gotta Catch ‘Em All’ scavenger hunt that they announced yesterday, they have released the first TV spot for the game in the North American region.

The ad has all the cheese that you would expect from a ’90s video game commercial (which is just as well, because it probably allows Nintendo to focus on their two main demographics- kids, who won’t know better anyway, and people who grew up on the classic era Pokemon games in the late ’90s), with some cool CG Pokemon interacting with real people, against some rather tacky looking backdrops. Epic music, though.

Pokemon X and Y launch October 12 on the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. They launch worldwide, marking the first time a Pokemon game (or a Nintendo published title) has had the same day release in all territories. They will be available digitally and at retail. Stay tuned for more coverage.
