Don't spend it all in one place.

GTA Online’s launch has been pretty troubled and plagued with all sorts of glitches and bugs, the most serious of which is players losing their characters and their progress. To make it up to the players who have stuck with it this far, Rockstar will now be depositing half a million GTA$ in every player’s account who has played this game already, or plays it in October. The deposits will start next week, although to make sure that they don’t break the in game economy, Rockstar will deposit the money in increments.

The only stipulations for getting this money will be that you play the game in October 2013 (as mentioned above), and that you install the patch for GTA V that will show up next week, which is expected to smooth out the last of the bugs and issues in the game. Rockstar will start depositing the money automatically after that, with nothing required on the player’s part.

It’s a pretty nice gesture, at least. Hopefully it helps with the pain of all the lost progress and characters.
