Sky’s streaming app for the Xbox 360- Sky Go- has been updated, and while updates are generally good news for users, bringing with them as they do newer user interfaces and new features, this specific update has been met with some ire by some users. You see, the price of Sky Go on the Xbox 360 has been raced, by £5.
Simply put, this is because to access Sky Go on the Xbox 360 (and then on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 when the app hits those consoles later this year) will in effect require a new Sky Go subscription (and the subscriptions are what go for £5 a month).
“Sky Go and Sky Go Extra mean our customers can watch their favourite Sky content on a broad range of devices, wherever they are. We will be making some changes to the way in which console users access Sky Go, and we will be writing to any customers who this affects over the coming weeks to update them,” Sky told Eurogamer.
Personally, I think Sky is acting shady here- imagine if HBO decided to charge you extra per device for HBO Go. That would kill the service right there, wouldn’t it? Sky risks losing a lot of customer goodwill if this keeps up.
