Without Memory is a third person interactive thriller currently under development at Dinosaurum Games exclusively for the PlayStation 4, with a projected release date of 2016.
With the game that far from release, however, the developers are still managing to share some fairly exciting and impressive stuff with us. Twinfinite, for example, reports that the studio has recently been putting some added focus into motion capture and has been sharing their experiences with fans and followers.
Among the many updates are included the following:
“In Without Memory, if a player leaves the controller untouched, the main character will begin to look around and shiver, rubbing her body for warmth while in the cold forest. Players ought not leave the game unnecessarily idle, as long periods of inactivity can lead to a “series of unpleasant consequences.”
“The most difficult part of shooting was being able to accurately portray emotions, as there is always some distortion in the transference to the model.”
“The actress portraying their main character, Anna, was constantly in character, even when traveling.”
“The studio’s equipment is “really high quality,” where they use 50 of the latest Vicon cameras that were also used in filming for one of their primary inspirations, Beyond: Two Souls. They note that this much is “more than enough” to record the bodies and facial animations they need.”
“Facial animation was captured with a helmet with a camera as opposed to facial sensors.”
“On their first day, they filmed 116 scenes (including movements and cut scenes) for the first levels of the game.”
It sounds like the studio is taking a leaf out of David Cage’s book. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more on this intriguing game as it develops.
