Still bathing in the glow of one of the most successful Beta programs ever ran in the video game space, Bungie can safely stow away their concerns about players not understanding Destiny. And it would seem they’re doing just that.

Speaking to GamesTM, Bungies Director of Production, Jonty Barnes came out swinging, saying “There was a saying we’ve said before to keep us from taking our progress for granted: we want to be Avatar, not War of the Worlds.”

Many players voiced their concerns about the game with a considerable portion saying it felt too similar to Halo, but the fundamentals of the gameplay were different in subtle ways that made Destiny an entirely separate being in its own right. Barnes goes on to say “The beta was a huge tonic for the team because the world of players agree with the players at Bungie – the things we love about the game, they love about the game. Things we thought were important.”

The Destiny Beta was a huge success for Bungie, it’s clear the time and effort that went into it is paying off, and the dev’s know it. “This is why we do games – we take risks,”  Barnes added.
