Insomniac Has No Plans To Bring Sunset Overdrive to PC

For now.

Sunset Overdrive

Insomniac Games’ Sunset Overdrive looks like one of the best games coming to the Xbox One, and it also looks like a return to form for the premier studio, whose output has faltered a bit in recent years. The colorful, sunny game, which promises a deft mix of platforming and action, quite like Ratchet and Clank, looks so good, in fact, that even people who don’t have any plans to buy an Xbox One any time soon want to play it. And thus, they are hoping that, like with many Xbox One exclusives, such as Ryse: Son of Rome or Dead Rising 3, it will also eventually come to PC.

Insomniac addressed this question head on in a recent statement.

“I don’t know what the future holds,” Insomniac’s James Stevenson said to Videogamer. “Right now there’s no plans for a PC version of the game. We’re just working hard to finish up the Xbox One version. We’re going to support it post-launch and then we’ll see what happens in the future. But there’s no plans. We aren’t planning a PC version or anything like that.”

On one hand, of course they will say that, to not compromise the sales of the Xbox One version from anybody who might then potentially sit out the release to pick it up on the PC; on the other hand, Insomniac has never been much of a multiplatform game developer, and they might actually be telling the truth.

There’s really no way of telling for sure with Xbox One exclusives, but for now let’s stick with this- as of right now, the only way to play Sunset Overdrive is on the Xbox One.
