Bioware: Dragon Age: Inquisition Has Been Our Most Challenging Project Yet

"The work the team has done has been astronomical."

Dragon Age: Inquisition is the third game in the Dragon Age series, and it has a lot riding on it- it needs to restore prestige to the Dragon Age series after Dragon Age II completely wrecked the goodwill that the excellent Dragon Age Origins garnered. It needs to return to the style of Dragon Age: Origins to appeal to the old school hardcore RPG fanbase again. It needs to appeal to the Skyrim crowd to appeal to a bigger consumer base. It needs to forge an identity of its own, instead of being a fusion of clones. And it also needs to restore Bioware’s brand image, which went down the gutter after the triple whammy if disappointments that were Dragon Age II, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Mass Effect 3.

With so much riding on it, it should be a given that the team is working extremely hard to ensure that Dragon Age Inquisition meets all those enormous expectations- and then some. And they are. According to Bioware, this has been their most challenging project yet, and the team has had to work very hard to keep up with its demands.

“I think [the game has been our most difficult yet], I think so,” Bioware’s Cameron Lee told Gamespot. “We’ve had a lot of time though, and that really helps. Dragon Age Inquisition has been four years in the making, which has definitely alleviated some of those challenges.”

He added: “The work the team has done has been astronomical. We have so many different people who are so passionate about different parts of the game. It’s definitely been one of the biggest challenges we’ve faced for sure.”

The good news it, it looks like all that hard work has paid off, since the game looks amazing from everything we have seen of it so far. We’re in the home stretch here, Bioware. Don’t screw it up, ship a great product, and let it speak for itself.
