Prepare Yourself: Destiny Will Be Down For Several Hours Tomorrow

On the plus side, maybe you can try some other, actual good games in that period!

I don’t know why, given how mediocre the game ultimately turned out to be, but there is a full swathe of people that insists on playing Destiny still (exactly what they are playing, given how little content the game ultimately had, is beyond me). If you are one of those people, then you must find something else to do with your time tomorrow  for a few hours as your addiction will be unavailable- Bungie has confirmed that Destiny will be down tomorrow, November 13, for a few hours for maintenance.

“On Thursday, November 13th, we’ll be taking Destiny offline for several hours,” Destiny community manager Deej explained in a new blog post.

“This totally planned service outage will enable us to prepare for the arrival of a series of updates planned for the next few weeks. During this time, you’ll be unable to play Destiny. We’re sorry about the interruption, but it’s for the greater good.

“Once services are restored, your experience as a player will be unchanged. The updates we’re making will be on our side, so you won’t need to download or install a new batch of content. This work will help us pave the way for the progress that was foretold in the last Weekly Update.”

Presumably, these updates will include laying the groundwork for the upcoming ‘expansion packs’ that Destiny will be receiving in the coming weeks. I guess Destiny going offline for this period is for the greater good- in those few hours, you can go out and get some sunlight. Or, you know, play an actual good game for a change.
