Far Cry 4 Pirates Get A Public Shaming By The Games Director

This is a job, well done. Very well done indeed.

Straight up, I hate Pirates. I just can’t stand thieves in general, let alone those that steal something and then feel entitled to complain about it. As you’re no doubt aware, anti-piracy measures are scattered throughout gaming in all manner of ways, be it with DRM authentication, required server connection, authentication codes etc. But historically, they have proven less than effective as Pirates always find a way around the blocks.

But this is the best kind of anti-piracy incentivisation. PC gamers love the options available to them, so to punish pirates, Far Cry 4’s Director, Alex Hutchinson, implemented a way of removing FOV adjustment so that when the complain about the lack of FOV, they’ve publicly announced that they pirated the game.

Alex took to Twitter to say, “PC players! If you’re online complaining about the lack of FOV control … You pirated the game.” I want to meet Mr Hutchinson just so I can tell he’s done a bloody good job.
