Assassin’s Creed Unity: Free Game Comes With A Catch, You Can’t Sue Ubisoft

Ubisoft just hates you. No qualifying statement required.

Assassin's Creed Unity Glitch

Remember when you installed a GameStation game that featured a newly amended terms and conditions sheet and you blindly clicked “I agree” and you signed away your soul? Like, literally? Well that’s kind of happening again if you’re willing to take up Ubisoft on their offer of a free game.

Assassin’s Creed Unity launched in a sorry state, like I said it would, and it left many gamers feeling ripped off and generally angry. What’s worse is that those who purchased a season pass had spent all that money on a product that just barely worked in anyway deemed acceptable. To that end, Ubisoft offered season pass owners a free game from a selection of their recent catalogue, though in taking them up on the offer, you were waiving all rights to legal action.

The very first line of the waiver states, and I quote, “You hereby irrevocably and unconditionally RELEASE, WAIVE, AND FOREVER DISCHARGE AND COVENANT NOT TO SUE Ubisoft Entertainment S.A., and each of its past, present and future divisions, parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, predecessors, successors and assigns, together with all of their respective past, present and future employees, officers, shareholders, directors and agents, and those who give recommendations, directions, or instructions or engage in risk evaluation or loss control activities regarding the Campaign (all for the purposes herein referred to as “Released Parties”)”

Stay classy Ubisoft.

Thanks, Gameinformer.
