The First Gameplay Trailer For Night Cry Is Terrifying

'You must run. Or hide.'

Night Cry, the spiritual successor to the cult classic horror game Clock Tower, was announced a few weeks ago, and while we got a suitably creepy teaser to go along with the announcement, this is actually our first look at the game and gameplay proper, and it is sufficiently and appropriately creepy, I gotta say.

It’s an oppressive trailer, and one that promises to fix something that has become all too common of a problem with horror games these days- they are too reliant on action as their primary interaction, and as a result, fail to build up any tension whatsoever.

Night Cry, we are promised, will not be like that- ‘fighting back will get you nowhere,’ the trailer taunts us. ‘You must run, hide, or find something to defend you with.’

Sounds like a more unsettling, psychological kind of horror to me, which is all something I am on board with.

We’ll keep you posted.
