That Completed Wii U Game That Ubisoft Canceled? It Was Apparently A Party Game

God damn it, Ubisoft.

Last year, Ubisoft announced that Watch Dogs would be the last game that it would be releasing for Nintendo’s Wii U console- their reasons for this suspension of support were pretty well documented, and well backed up. They had been an ardent supporter of the console since its launch, supporting it with exclusive games (such as ZombiU), as well as versions of all of their multiplat games, from Rayman to Watch Dogs. But sales had apparently not justified the investment, so it made sense that they were pulling out, right?

But right before they did so, they gave us a tantalizing tease- they already had a Wii U game, that had completed development, that they were holding off from release until they could be sure that they would recoup the investment (i.e. when either the Wii U or its software sales were high enough). Speculation ran rampant as to what this could be- a version of one of the Ubisoft games that didn’t make it to the console, such as Far Cry or Assassin’s Creed Unity? Another exclusive? What?

Well, hold on to your pants and don’t get too excited, because we finally know, thanks to Unreal64, and it is nothing special. It is in fact pretty much the definition of Ubisoft shovelware. It was Know Your Friends, a party game that appears to have been developed as a follow up to We Dare. You can check out video footage of this game above. Or you can choose to not see it, and go on believing that the game would have been Red Steel 3.

I wish it had been Red Steel 3.
