There are some games that just deserve a remastering, mainly because they created such an impact in the gaming community, they deserve a second chance to be exposed to a broader audience. Even so, remasters are largely easy- remaking a game is on a whole different level, because the developers have to make sure that in the process, they don’t deviate from the original content much.
Additionally, they also have to make sure that the controls and bugs are sorted out, so that they work perfectly on the consoles, and that generally, the remake represents the game as fans remember it, rather than as it was.
In today’s market climate, we see a whole lot of both, remakes and remasters. Here are some of the very best ones, in our opinion.

Okami
Okami is a cult classic- it didn’t do too well right out of the gates, but it eventually picked up and became popular. The Wii remake with enhanced controls was where it finally cemented its popularity, and the HD remastering for the PS3 further helped. Between the Wii remake, which breathed new life into the game, and the PS3’s cleaning up of the game’s art, Okami got the fame and success it was always destined for.
