Now that Star Wars: Battlefront is officially announced and is going to be coming later this year, we’re getting all kinds of information about how the game is being made, where developers are getting the story material and who will be in the game. Quite a bit of this information is coming from various social media outlets including a series of postings by Electronic Arts Community Manager Mathew Everett on Reddit.

In particular, Everett mentioned the collaboration that has gone one between Dice, EA and Lucas Arts. In order to keep a story going that fans of the world Star Wars: Battlefront takes place in, the companies had to make sure what they were doing was going to fit into, or directly create new canon. One particular way this was done was the planet Sullust. This planet has made appearances in recent issues of the comic and this was actually inspired by the game. “The Sullust they use within the comic is based on the Sullust we’re introducing into the Star Wars universe in Star Wars Battlefront. This has been a part of the collaboration we have had with Lucas over the last few years.” Everett said.

Outside of the collaboration, Everett also talked about the different maps that will be in the game. Specifically he said that mission maps will be different than what is offered in multiplayer maps. “Mission maps are unique to Missions. The map count we revealed includes only Multiplayer maps from the base game (12 maps). We also have the two extra free maps that will come with the Battle of Jakku. The Battle of Jakku maps will arrive starting on December 1st or December 8th depending if you pre-ordered, which gives us 14 maps total before The Force Awakens arrives in theaters. We will reveal the full Mission map count in the near future.” He added.

One last little tidbit about the game that didn’t come from this Reddit session was the inclusion of C3PO in Battlefront. It appears this particular nugget was actually revealed by the voice actor for the beloved robot, Anthony Daniels. Commenting on Twitter, Daniels said: “One day it’s the hilarious YODA CHRONICLES: the next, the astounding BATTLEFRONT! (Just the ying and yang of being C-3PO at the microphone).”

Finally, back on Reddit, Everett made sure everyone knew that more information about the game will be revealed next week at E3. Star Wars: Battlefront is due out for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC on November 17.
