Batman: Arkham Knight PC Version Outsourced, Leads To Poor Port

Warner Bros. continues to treat the PC with disappointing callousness.

Batman Arkham Knight

It seems like this is becoming a trend with all Warner Bros. published games. Just like Mortal Kombat X, which saw its PC version outsourced to developer High Voltage Studios with decidedly poor results, the PC version of Rocksteady’s concluding epic, Batman: Arkham Knight, also was outsourced to an external studio- in this case Iron Galaxy. And just like with Mortal Kombat X, the results seem to have been less than desirable.

The PC version of the game seems to be suffering from multiple issues, including stuttering, input lag, locked framerate (a soft lock, but a lock nonetheless), and flat out game crashes. While the game launched with a bevy of issues, a 3.5 GB day one patch was issued precisely to address those problems- which continue to persist in the PC version despite that.

Rocksteady has issued a statement, acknowledging the problems, as well as the outsourcing.

“I’m aware that some users are reporting performance issues with the PC version. This is something that Rocksteady takes very seriously,” Arkham Knight director Sefton Hill tweeted. “WBGames is working with the PC developer IronGalaxy to address the issues ASAP. Rocksteady will provide any support to get this resolved.”

Personally, it is a shame to see Warner Bros. and Rocksteady taking the PC version of the game so lightly- especially since the PC versions of games are usually the ones with legs, while the console ones have an initial flare out, and then fade away.
