Criterion’s Burnout series may now be a thing of the past, having been superceded by the new line of Need for Speed games, and Criterions’s own – well, I am not exactly sure what they are working on, really – but while it was active, it gave us some of the best racing games of all time, culminating in 2008’s Burnout Paradise, which gave the world an open world racer with full destructibility long before those just became sexy buzzwords.

Paradise, as with the rest of the Burnout franchise, has its fans. And those fans were given some good news today when, speaking on Twitter, Criterion confirmed that they are in talks of making Burnout Paradise playable on the Xbox One via its Xbox 360 backwards compatibility.

“Yes, we ARE talking to Microsoft about making Xbox 360 Burnout Paradise available on Xbox One via backwards-compatibility!” Criterion said, promising that more news would follow soon.

Personally, anything that exposes Burnout to a larger, more modern audience, and shows EA that it is still a series worth investing in, is good with me. That said, put Burnout Revenge on there, Criterion, and then we’ll be talking.
