Rockstar Banning GTA V Players For Being Associated With A Certain GTA5 Mod

Rockstar and mods really don't get along.

GTA 5 PC

Mods and PC game developers have had a historically rocky relationship in the last decade or so, but things have been improving again of late in recent years. However, Rockstar clearly seems to have missed the memo, as they’ve had multiple antagonistic run ins with PC players over mods ever since the release of GTA5 on PC earlier this year.

And now, here is another one to add to the list. DSO Gaming is reporting that Rockstar Games is bringing its hammer down to everyone affiliated with a certain mod for GTA V, FiveM. FiveM is apparently a mod that allows for an advanced multiplayer environment for people to play on dedicated servers with user-made game modes.

The problem, of course, is that any and all mods that may have any bearing on GTA: Online and fair competitive play are instantly banned. In which case, it does make sense that the developer of the mod has been banned. And if that was where it had stopped, that would have been fine. However, it also seems like Rockstar has also banned people that were merely affiliated with FiveM and were not really involved with its development- including users who had not broken any rules or violated the game’s EULA.

The worst part is that the players were banned from not just GTA: Online, but from the Rockstar Social Club at large- meaning that multiplayer in any Rockstar game, such as Max Payne 3, is now out of the question.

Yikes. Get your act together, Rockstar.
