No Man’s Sky Developers: We Don’t Want To Mess It Up

'We don't want to mess up.'

no man's sky

Remember when No Man’s Sky was originally supposed to launch by the end of this year? Yeah, good times. As we enter November, it seems entirely unlikely that the procedurally generated open world space adventure is actually going to make it out this year. That, alongside the fact that the game, which was getting so many updates not long ago, has gone silent in public media, has raised suspicions that the game may not be anywhere close to release.

No Man’s Sky developers Hello Games broke their silence on the game today, if only to confirm that they are all, in fact, still hard at work on the game. “For those asking, we are still incredibly hard at work on No Man’s Sky, but it’s going really well,” they said. “We get one shot to make this game, and we don’t want to mess it up. Hope that’s ok.”

So it sounds like the priority here is to get the game to what they feel are acceptable standards, rather than meeting release date deadlines. And that is perfectly fine, too- I would rather they release a finished product that is delayed than one that is on time, but broken.
