There have been a number of reports about how well both the Xbox One and PS4 have been selling over the last few months and while some people have been really impressed with those numbers, Electronic Arts says the two consoles haven’t even hit their peak. One of the reasons the consoles have such a bright future ahead of them is because they are willing to adapt and change, without rolling out a brand new console.

Chief Financial Officer of EA Blake Jorgensen recently gave a talk at the USB Global Tech Conference when he talked about how well the companies are doing. “There are new consoles out with more storage space and so you’ll see that as a way of driving additional console sales. I think you will see a lot more bundling over the next couple of years because it’s always been a popular way to drive consoles. We feel like there is plenty of growth to go in the cycle. We’re nowhere near the peak in the console cycle at all,” he said.

Among the examples as to how the Xbox One and the PS4 are adapting is the backwards compatibility of Microsoft’s console. While the PS4 has avoided doing that in the strictest sense of the world, Sony has been using PlayStation Now in order to allow people to play PS3 games that they loved. There is likely about two more years, at the very least in this particular generation of console. It will be interesting to see what the two companies have up their sleeves over that time.
