Nintendo’s next machine, the Nintendo NX, is almost here, if we are being led to believe correctly- but for a system that’s almost here, we haven’t seen hide nor tail of it. We don’t know what the NX is, much less what its games are going to be. What we do know is that third parties, especially Japanese third parties, seem especially bullish on it. We’ve already heard Level 5 and Square Enix express excitement for the machine before- and now, it seems like Bandai Namco are prepared to go all in on the NX too.
Serkan Toto is an analyst and consultant contracted by many of the big mobile publishers (this includes most major Japanese third party publishers, incidentally). He also used to work as a reporter before, which means he has some credible contacts. He has confirmed on Twitter that Bandai Namco is developing multiple games for the Nintendo NX- including a new Smash Bros. game that is planned for the launch.
Bandai Namco being all aboard Nintendo’s new machine isn’t surprising, given the excellent relationship they have shared with Nintendo. They also developed Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS for them, so they are probably tasked with using that same engine to come up with a brand new game for the NX, or to port the existing game to it.
Whatever it is, this sounds exciting- more and more, I continue to gain confidence in the Nintendo NX. Now we just wait for Nintendo to reveal it officially.
