Dash of nostalgia.

It’s still not as good as it was on the Wii, but Nintendo’s Virtual Console platform really has come a long way on the Wii U from its dismal beginnings. Covering the NES, SNES, N64, Gameboy Advance, Wii, and Nintendo DS platforms, it offers a healthy selection (on the NES, SNES, and Gameboy Advance, in any case), and is being used to deliver content appropriately at this point. For instance, the Virtual Console is responsible for the almost mythical Mother games finally releasing in the west- and the Virtual Console release of Super Mario Advance 4 also had all the long lost eReader levels unlocked right from the get go.

Now, another classic is coming to the Wii U Virtual Console- although not one as obscure as Mother, or as widely loved as Super Mario Advance 4Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team will both be launching on the Wii U Virtual Console this week. The games originally launched in 2006 for the Gameboy Advance and Nintendo DS, and kicked off the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon spin off franchise. While future games in the series would go on to improve on the originals, Red and Blue Rescue Team still are an entertaining prospect.

Red Rescue Team will be cheaper than Blue Rescue Team, which was a Nintendo DS release, and will therefore be priced higher.
